About
This Crew Resource Management program prepares RPAS operators to manage the human factors that drive aviation incidents. Aligned with Transport Canada AC 700-042 and CARs Part IX, the curriculum translates four decades of manned aviation research into practical skills for drone operations. Nine modules cover threat and error management, communication, situational awareness, stress and fatigue management, workload distribution, decision making, leadership, and automation management. Each combines theoretical foundations with RPAS-specific applications, using case studies from Tenerife to Air France 447 to illustrate how human factors failures cascade into accidents, and how proper CRM prevents them. Participants learn to recognize the unique challenges of remote piloting, where situational awareness must be constructed from indirect sources without cockpit sensory feedback. Research shows perceptual errors occur over six times more frequently in RPAS operations, making structured error trapping essential.
