Teck Legacy Sunro Site Assessment
Teck Legacy Sunro Site Assessment
Multi-sensor drone survey for erosion and hazard analysis.
Client:
Teck Legacy
Location:
Jordan River, British Columbia
Scope
Three priority zones
Scope of Work
Aeria's scope involved detailed planning, site survey, and multi-sensor data acquisition across three prioritized zones. The field team consisted of a minimum three-person crew: Pilot in Command (PIC), Visual Observer (VO), and Safety Operator (SO). Priority Zone 1 focused on primary data collection in the main site area, targeting the 5100-mine portal and waste rock piles to support erosion and structural analysis. Priority Zone 2 captured data along the roadway leading to the site to identify potential hazards impacting accessibility. Priority Zone 3 collected data of the Jordan River canyon north of the main site to document changes in support of assessment plans.
Data Collection and Deliverables
Aeria captured and processed georeferenced data to provide a detailed baseline for monitoring and analysis. Deliverables included high-resolution aerial imagery (orthophotos) and HD video documenting current site conditions, precision ground control survey using RTK or PPK GNSS for geolocated data integration and accuracy, and LiDAR data processed to produce high-resolution terrain models, detailed point clouds, and 3D models for topographical and structural analysis. The final data package comprised a comprehensive Summary Report compiling all collected data, including orthophotos, 3D models, DEM/DSM outputs, and video to support Teck Legacy's internal assessments.
Services:
LiDAR scanning, aerial photogrammetry, precision surveying, erosion monitoring, mine site inspection, 3D modelling
Aeria Solutions was engaged by Teck Legacy to conduct a comprehensive, drone-based data collection mission at its Sunro Site in the Jordan River area. The project's core objective was to acquire high-precision aerial data to support assessment of erosion impacts, topographical changes, and potential hazards following recent weather events affecting roads, waterbodies, and mine features.
