System Architecture
Aeria Solutions leads hardware development, field integration, and operational deployment of the VeilNode system. VeilNode is designed as a modular, drone-deployable sensor array featuring multi-element microphone arrays for acoustic detection, fisheye cameras for visual coverage, onboard GPS, and LoRa mesh networking for distributed sensor communication. The team has developed weatherproof enclosures and sensor housings suitable for rapid field deployment, with current prototypes achieving TRL 4 status. VeilNode nodes can be deployed via drone or ground placement to establish a passive detection mesh across an area of interest, providing real-time awareness without revealing sensor positions through active emissions.
Detection Capabilities
VeilNode employs multi-modal passive sensing to detect and classify aerial threats. Acoustic detection uses microphone arrays to capture drone motor signatures and propeller noise, enabling detection and bearing estimation even when visual contact is obscured. EagleEyes' video detection system provides target identification and tracking across the camera network.
LoRa-based mesh networking links multiple VeilNode units into a coordinated detection network, enabling triangulation and handoff between nodes. Onboard edge processing reduces data transmission requirements and enables autonomous detection alerts. EagleEyes Search provides the video-based detection algorithms and command-and-control software forming the intelligence layer, aggregating data from distributed units into a unified situational awareness interface.
Target Applications
The VeilNode system supports critical infrastructure protection, forward operating base security, remote industrial site monitoring, event and venue airspace security, and border and corridor surveillance. The development roadmap includes progression to TRL 5 through expanded field trials, integration of additional sensor modalities, and refinement of detection algorithms for improved classification accuracy.

Aeria Solutions, in partnership with EagleEyes Search, is developing VeilNode - a passive airspace awareness system designed to detect, track, and classify unmanned aircraft without active radar emissions. The system addresses a critical gap in counter-UAS (C-UAS) capabilities by providing persistent, covert monitoring for sensitive infrastructure, remote operations, and defense applications.
