Murray River Project
Murray River Project
Multi-sensor hydrodynamic baseline study with integrated safety oversight.
Client:
Lorax Environmental Services / Conuma Coal Resources
Location:
Murray River, Tumbler Ridge
Duration
Murray River, Tumbler Ridge
Scope of Work
Aeria's team provided comprehensive support across safety, vessel operations, and advanced data acquisition to Lorax and their partners during the approximately one-week operational period in October 2025. Safety and HSE oversight formed a critical component. Aeria developed and managed the project's Safety Management Plan (ASMP) and provided Health, Safety, and Environmental oversight for all field activities. This was credited with fostering a strong safety culture and achieving a 5/5 safety score for the operation, with zero incidents. Vessel and logistics support included personnel acting as vessel operator, providing critical ferry support for Lorax operators, guests, and equipment to and from rhodamine sampling sites. This involved operating a raft on the Murray River and assisting with on-water logistics.
Data Collection
The Aeria team was responsible for acquiring high-resolution geospatial and hydrographic data. RPAS data included high-resolution terrain products with a Digital Elevation Model combining LiDAR aerial reconnaissance and RTK data. Hydrographic data comprised ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) bench transects. Surveying deliverables included RTK survey points and orthophotography.
Aeria also contributed technical consultation related to integrating the rhodamine program with ADCP and bathymetric data acquisition workflows. The three-person field team included a Field Safety Supervisor, Project/Data Lead, and Boat Operator/Water Lead.
Services:
HSE oversight, safety management, ADCP hydrographic survey, LiDAR mapping, vessel operations, river discharge study
Aeria Solutions was contracted by Lorax for a multi-sensor field campaign at the Quintette Mine, operated by Conuma Coal Resources near Tumbler Ridge. The core purpose was to conduct a hydrodynamic and geospatial baseline river discharge tracer study, specifically involving rhodamine dye tracing, on the Murray River.
